The Marsh View Room

The Marshview Room has been arranged to celebrate the wildlife living in "Our Own Backyard." With its view to the salt marsh, which fills with water during very high tides, to the upland wooded area of Wing's Island [Walking Wing's Island Guide/Map: page 1 page 2], and its glimpse of the beach and the bay beyond, the Marshview Room presents a wide variety of plants and animals in several ecosystems to study and enjoy.  Museum visitors will find themselves drawn outside to look for wildlife for themselves.

Exhibitions by photographers are displayed regularly and a specific plant, bird, or book is featured bimonthly.

We have a series of hands-on activities for the kids and incredibly comfortable chairs for the adults to catch their second wind!

Our OspreyCam is set up on the osprey nest in the marsh and visitors are able to view the arrival of a male and female, the laying of eggs, the hatching, and the first weeks in the lives of chicks.

In the Marsh View Room, you will also find an ongoing display of photographs by friends of the Museum showing scenes from nature that give them a personal sense of wonder. You will enjoy the raccoons, birds, beaches and skies we share with them, and appreciate the diversity and magnificent detail that Mother Nature has to offer.
