Sure sign of spring: Ospreys are back
By Matthew Belson
Thu Apr 03, 2008, 10:31 PM EDT

Soaring above the marsh, a male osprey glides effortlessly in the wind blowing in from Cape Cod Bay. Eventually he lands on a nest high on a pole where a female osprey, his mate, awaits his return.

Naturalists at Cape Cod Museum of Natural History first spotted the pair of ospreys March 14.

A Sense of Wonder Comes to DVD

A Sense of Wonder comes to DVD
Members, friends, and supporters of the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History who enjoyed last years national Rachel Carson centennial celebration, Awakening Natures Voice, and who were privileged to attend actress Kaiulani Lees performances of A Sense of Wonder in Brewster will want to know about a significant new addition to the Carson legacy.
Kaiulani Lee has just brought her stage play to video her long-sought goal to expand the reach of A Sense of Wonder into schools and homes, to nature enthusiasts who may not have yet experienced the play first-hand. A sneak peek of the new video was provided in March at the D.C. Environmental Film Festival in Washington, and the finished product a 52-minute color high-definition video adaptation of the stage play, shot in 2007 at Rachel Carsons actual summer cottage on Southport Island, Maine is, in a word, stunning. Viewers are treated to Carsons words from the actual location where they were written, to the accompaniment of Beethovens Violin Concerto (Carsons favorite classical work).
By visiting the new films Web site www.asenseofwonderfilm.com and clicking on Trailer, youll get your own sneak peek at the new production. Plans are to offer the film for sale in DVD format later in March, via the Web site. If response is sufficient to attract the attention of a major distributor, look for A Sense of Wonder to be repackaged as a commercial DVD product (probably with added interviews and special features) later in 2008.
