Amazing Behaviors of Common Birds
Naturalist Phil Kyle
On Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 11:30am join Cape Cod naturalist, Phil Kyle for his program, Amazing Behaviors of Common Birds.
Most people assume only exotic birds have amazing adaptions. However, feather color, bill evolution, vision, feeding strategies, and more, make our common birds just as amazing! Each species of bird has a unique way of acting, moving, sitting, and flying. Behaviors to notice: posture, movement, flight patterns, and flocking. All this can be observed with or without binoculars by watching the bird for as long as it will let you. And, if you employ some patience, you can become used to the way a bird acts and possibly discover it doing something new!
Phil Kyle has dedicated his life to the study and public education of the natural world. After obtaining his B.S. in Biology from Cornell University, he has served in a wide variety of capacities including: presently a Columnist for the Cape Cod Times – Birding ; and formerly Director of Education, South Shore Natural Science Center; President, Cape Cod Bird Club; Head Naturalist, Green Briar Nature Center; Interpretive Park Ranger, Cape Cod National Seashore; Whale Watching Naturalist, Barnstable Whale Watcher; Whale Watching Naturalist, Captain John Boats; High Teacher Biology & Anatomy and Physiology, Barnstable HS.
