Do you love talking about nature? Does nature inspire you? If you have a yen to learn about the natural history of Cape Cod, Wing’s Island, and the Stony Brook Valley area, and if you enjoy talking with others and sharing what you’ve learned, then come join a like-minded group of individuals and become a volunteer field guide at Cape Cod’s Nature Place, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.
The 2019 Field Guide Training Course begins on Wednesday, March 13th and continues on Wednesday mornings through April 10th from 9 AM to 2PM with lunch included. During the school vacation week, April 15-19, guides will have an opportunity to shadow veteran guides conducting family walks. The final training session will be Wednesday, April 24 from 9AM to Noon. Each session includes multiple presentations plus a walk through a salt marsh and over Wing’s Island to Cape Cod Bay (i.e. dress appropriately and wear waterproof boots).
New guides will learn about the natural history of Cape Cod in general and the Stony Brook Valley and Wing’s Island in Brewster in particular. Veteran guides are invited to participate to prepare for the new season of leading school walks and family walks throughout the spring, summer and fall.
