Wednesday, April 22nd 11:00am - 2:00pm

11am ~ Celebrate the coming of spring with Environmental Educator and entrepreneur Casey Tinius and appreciate our beautiful Earth by turning old items into something new! We will be upcycling bath loofas into reusable produce bags and turning newspaper into seed bombs for your spring garden!

12:30pm~Following the project Casey will introduce her CARE for a Cause business plan, for which she won a $500 award for third place and another $500 as a “fan favorite” in an EforAll pitch contest in January. CARE for a Cause is a subscription box service offering sustainably sourced products as part of an “adult education care package.” The program introduces users to “sustainable and low-impact living” and encourages subscribers to become part of a more “conscious lifestyle.

1pm ~ Nature Screen presents “Bag It” ~ Casey will introduce Bag It, a documentary that follows an average guy who makes a resolution to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store. Little does he know that this simple decision will completely change his life. He comes to the conclusion that our consumptive use of plastic has finally caught up to us, and looks at what we can do about it.

Casey has a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. As a deeply passionate environmentalist, Casey believes education is our most powerful tool in developing a global consciousness and ensuring the conservation of resources for generations to come.
