Cape Cod Photography Workshop

Cape Cod Photography Workshop

Friday, May 12th and Saturday May 13, 2017. Please note: This is a 2 day workshop.

Join local nature photographer Jesse Mechling for a two-day nature photo workshop sponsored by the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.  During the workshop participants will learn techniques for capturing classic Cape Cod nature scenes. Students will learn about composition and lighting to make dramatic landscape photos. The workshop consists of evening lecture, and full day of shooting with some time for showcasing and critiquing student work. Locations and subjects may include: salt marsh, barrier beach, forests, dunes, walkways, historic buildings, seals and birds  Students should have basic working knowledge of their cameras, whether SLR or point and shoot. It is preferred that students have SLR or cameras with removable lenses, and a sturdy tripod. Students should dress for the weather, as we will spend most of the day outside.

Jesse is an award winning photographer, naturalist and educator specializing in travel and nature photography. He has been photographing the landscape and wildlife of Cape Cod for more than twenty years, and despite having traveled to over 40 countries and 43 states, he regards Cape Cod as one of his favorite places to photograph; continually finding new destinations and subjects.  Jesse has exhibited his work in group and solo shows throughout the country, and locally at art festivals and businesses on Cape Cod. His work has appeared in numerous calendars, Lonely Planet guidebooks, Nature Photographer Magazine, the electronic New York Times, Condenet, Yahoo, Geoplaneta, Cape Cod Life, and American Express.  He currently works as the Director of Marine Education at the Center for Coastal Studies.
