2020 Field Guide Training
2020 Field Guide Training Course
Six Wednesday Sessions: 9am-2pm on March 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, and 29 plus an opportunity to shadow a veteran guide on a walk during the week of April 20-24 (school vacation).
If you have a yen to learn about the natural history of Cape Cod, Wing Island, and the Stony Brook Valley area, and if you enjoy talking with others and sharing what you’ve learned, then come join a like-minded group of individuals and become a volunteer field guide at Cape Cod’s Nature Place, The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.
New guides will learn about the natural history of Cape Cod in general and the Stoney Brook Valley and Wing Island in Brewster in particular as well as how to lead walks and share information with visitors. Veteran guides are invited to participate to review information and to contribute knowledge and experience to the sessions as all guides prepare for the new season of leading walks of school groups and families throughout the spring, summer and fall.
The 2020 Field Guide Training Course begins on Wednesday, March 18th and continues on successive Wednesdays through April 29th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with lunch included. Each session includes multiple presentations plus a walk through a salt marsh and over Wing Island to Cape Cod Bay (i.e. dress appropriately and wear waterproof boots).
During the school vacation week, April 20-24, guides will have an opportunity to shadow a veteran guide leading one of the daily scheduled visitor walks.
