Drawing from Nature
Four Saturdays May 24 and 31 & June 7 and 14
4 Saturdays $75 / Limit 12 9-11 am
This is a course for adults interested in developing their drawing skills. Basic tools, media and techniques will be introduced and we will look at examples of different artists’ methods of creating drawings based on the inspiration and observation of nature. If weather permits, the group will move outdoors to sketch and draw directly from nature in the grounds of the museum. In case of rain, the instructor will have natural objects and a still-life available. A critique will be offered at the end of each class. Bring 2B pencils, vine charcoal, a kneaded eraser and a 9x12 (or larger) sketchbook to the ﬁrst class.

Working outside when weather permits, children and adults will share time in nature by observing and drawing the forms, details and patterns of plants, ﬂowers and trees. On rainy days we will draw inside from shells, feathers, fruit, vegetables and objects from the museum collections. Pencil and colored pencils will be used and watercolor washes over drawings will be demonstrated and explored.
